Announced for the global market even before it went on sale in its home gounds of China, the Chery Omoda 5 is an interesting SUV that will also be launched in Malaysia. Though no dates have been shared yet, the company has taken a step to bridge between it and their customer base by opening their official 'Chery Omoda 5 Fans Malaysia' Facebook group.
It's a relatively new but fast growing group, with 233 members at the time of writing. Posts so far revolve around promotional pictures of the car, but there's also a short survey regarding Chery's brand awareness among Malaysians.

Chery Omoda 5 in Malaysia, what to expect?
The Omoda 5 is a long way away from the frankly dowdy cars Chery used to make, with a sleek exterior punctuated by contrast colourways and that sloping roofline. It's a definite looker.

Inside, the Chery Omoda 5 is suitably well-featured: its upmarket cabin is fitted with an expansive, dual 10.25-inch LCD display array, one of which is the instrument cluster, and the other for infotainment. There's also a flat-bottomed steering wheel and semi-bucket front seats.
It also makes good power, with 197 PS and 290 Nm from its turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, while plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric (BEV) versions will be introduced in the near future.
