Months after we first spied it in a nondescript Shah Alam showroom, here's the full-electric (EV) Ora Good Cat in public, displayed at the launch of the Tindakan Pembangunan Bumiputera event held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
A crowd puller at the event, the Good Cat displayed here isn't quite Malaysian-spec yet, with it being left-hand drive (imported from China).
However, a source within Go Auto Sdn. Bhd. – representatives of the Great Wall Motor brand here, which also includes Haval – says that this is pretty close to what Malaysian customers can expect when the EV is eventually launched here.
Said source also mentions that the ORA Good Cat is expected to be priced around RM 130k to RM 150k in Malaysia. A launch date hasn't been specified at the time of writing.
Ora Good Cat specs in Malaysia
This particular example has a 143 PS / 210 Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor that sends power to the front wheels.
As for its battery pack, it's got a 63.1 kWh ternary lithium battery (having nickel-manganese-cobalt as the cathode material), good for a maximum range of 501 km.
The Ora Good Cat supports DC fast charging of up to 60 kW and AC charging of up to 6.6 kW. It's claimed to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.6 seconds, with a top speed of 152 km/h.
Beneath the friendly outlook, the Good Cat boasts a rather classy interior, with generous use of leather and soft-touch materials all over.
It's also packed with safety features, as this Good Cat comes with a full-suite of ADAS encompassing these features, among others:
Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
Lane Following Assist (LFA)
Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA)
Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA)
Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC)
Blind spot monitoring system (BSM)
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
In the ASEAN region, the Good Cat is already on sale in Thailand, with three variants: the 400- km Tech and Pro, and the 500-km Ultra. Prices for the car over in the Land of Smiles range from THB 989k (~RM 123k) to THB 1.2 million (~RM 150k).
