I am Stephen in my early 50's from Melaka. I have currently been using a 2018 Mazda CX-3 2.0L facelifted model purchased new for the past 20 months. Mine's a soul red crystal and already clocked 30k km since day one.
My main reasons for getting this car were for the rather 'special' soul red crystal colour that changes into different shades under sunlight and also that it served my daily driving requirements. My kids are all grown-up and this car is used as my daily driver for me and my wife.
Driving the CX-3, you can feel that the car is nippy and easy to drive. Handling is sharp and the 2-litre N/A engine response is immediate. As the car is rated at 154hp and 204 Nm of torque, overtaking is also a breeze using manual / sport mode with paddle shifters and it has no problems zipping up Genting anytime. An added assurance is that this runs a six speed torque converter and should not break down that easily.
I espacially dig the DRLs and LEDs Auto levelling lights as it brightens up dark spots on roads effectively at night while giving other drivers a heads-up when you are approaching.
I have been getting an average of 450km city and 650km for highway from the 35-litre fuel tank. This does not apply if you are heavy-footed.
Since buying, I have only had a problem with the air-con temperature sensor which has since been replaced under warranty. No other hiccups.
On the other hand, it's rather not practical if you need to ferry adults in the rear seats as space is limited because the chassis is actually taken from a Mazda 2. The HUD (heads up display) is a plastic piece that pops up from the dashboard which is kinda akward and not in line-of-sight to the driver. Andriod Auto / Apple Carplay is also not standard but can be retrofitted for a fee. Engine noise is quite buzzy and can be heard when at high revs but can be improved through sound dampening (aftermarket). The ride is not that comforting as the suspension does not absorb bumps and potholes that well. Perhaps, might switch to air suspension when the old ones give way.
Other than that, I feel that the Mazda CX-3 CBU is spot on for my needs and a really fun car to drive with reliable quality from a reputable Japanese manufacturer.
