Owner Review: A bad decision? My Peugeot 408 (2013)

Basic information about my car:

Peugeot 4.0 (2013) 

Reasons why I bought this car:

This is my first executive car. Previously, I only used company cars or cheap cars like Perodua Viva and second hand Hyundai Accent. I used to travel a lot,so I prefer a better car as long as I can afford it. 

Car Selection Process

• I had a budget of RM 100 000
• Models that I have considered include: Toyota Altis, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Cerato 

Huge discount, I was given a RM 12k discount. I also prefer cars that do not look "ordinary", different from other people on the road. 

User Experience

• I have already done 140,000 km.
• My average fuel consumption is 12L/100km.

Overall, this is a decent car to drive, but relatively expensive to maintain, and needs delicate care compared to Japanese cars. 

Pros and Cons

Pros of my car

Comfort for long distance, stability during speeding,continental look somehow makes me feel "rich".

Cons

My aircon compressor malfunctioned after 2 years. The Lining roof fell aparts after 5 years.A lot of interior can't withstand our hot weather, I have to change my gear knob almost yearly basis before I change to aftermarket knob that last longer.Using this car, it is "normal" to see warning light " check engine", even though I just drain my pocket for thousand of Ringgit at SC. Not to forget, resale values are terrible.

Summary:

In summary, if I can return back to the date I chose this car, I will tell myself, please look for another car. 

My bonus for the year 2021 which is expected to be paid in February 2022 will be used to replace the activated carbon filter system for this car. I also need to replace a few other parts, which will cost me nearly RM 10k. Considering resale value nearly half of that, I am not so happy to "donate" my money like this.
