Reason why I bought this car

My wife's Civic FD was almost 10 years old and started to give some steering rack, aircond compressor and alternator problems. Cost to replace them was quite high so I decided to sell it. So happened that Automobiles Peugeot local office were looking to sell this car so once my wife test drove it and approved then that's it.

Car selection process

I had no fixed budget. I haven't considered other models. Bought this car for a good price.

The reason why I choose this car

The engine is turbo diesel. What else can you ask for? Excellent fuel consumption and durable engine. Peugeot makes the best diesel engines in the world.

User experience

• I have already done 12,000 km
• My average fuel consumption is 17 km/L

Beautiful fuel consumption. For city driving, I can get at least 800kms for the puny 50l tank. For long distance travelling, this car gives an average of 1100 kms, more if I spend more time on highway cruising. Interior is beautiful. You never get tired of looking at the dashboard and speedometer cluster. Built quality is solid, but not as good as Mercedes, Volvo or BMW which were my younger days' flings. You need to pamper a French model.

Pros & Cons

Pros

• Excellent fuel consumption.
• High torque.
• Beautiful handling. Taking the sweeping corners at Karak highway is a breeze, but don't try to outrun those performance cars la.
• Comfortable and safe. 5 stars NCAP mate!
• Engine is super reliable.
• No issues since new till today. Just replace all wear and tear parts as per schedule.

Cons

• Interior space can be a squeeze for those who are claustrophobic, but is ok for my average size. Robin won't be comfortable in this car because of his coconut tree height.
• Parts are not easy to find as it's only 1 of 3 Peugeot using this diesel engine in Malaysia, but thanks to the previous distributor, warranty and parts are not a problem. Maybe parts can be quite expensive for those who are not used to Conti cars. But hey, you only live once, like my friend KK always says.

Summary

Having driven national cars, Japanese cars, BMW, Mercedes and Volvos, I can only say French cars are beautiful and most comfortable. The only other car I can think of that closed is the Volvo 850, which I still think of till today. The story of my life with Peugeot started with the 405, without which there won't be other Peugeots in my house today. Daily commute and holiday trips are always looked forward to. Just maintain your car well and don't get an engine fault warning and you will be fine. Hahahaha!

Some interesting events

I have driven this car to Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son and the Golden Triangle with my friends and every kilometre in this car is worth 1000 kilometres in many other cars I've driven. More trips to come once this pandemic is over.
