Paris shows no love to e-scooters as city bans the two-wheeled terror on its streets 01

Paris is widely known as the City of Piss Love but if there’s one thing Parisians have zero love for, it’s electric scooters as its citizens recently voted to ban the two-wheelers from terrorising its roads.

An overwhelming majority of Parisians (between 85.77% and 91.77%) voted to put e-scooters off their cobbled roads with one voter citing that it gives off visual pollution to the French capital.

The ban is only on rental e-scooters but privately-owned ones are still allowed in Paris. Last year, around 700,000 units of the two-wheeled machines were sold all over France and this ban on rental e-scooters is part of the city's efforts to promote sustainable transport.

However, there were some concerns from business owners and a few Parisians that thought there should be regulations instead of an outright ban on e-scooters. The two-wheelers are popular with delivery riders and tourists who enjoy using them to explore the city.

Monsieur, please remove your e-scooter, merci sil vous plait

459 accidents involving e-scooters and similar vehicles were reported in 2022 including 3 fatal ones. Looks like the days of tourists joyriding around Paris in e-scooters are ending.
