A video of a very close call between a Toyota Hilux and an unidentified car has been trending on social media. The incident is believed to have happened in Janda Baik on 28-June-2022.
In the video, the camera car was seen going on its way before having to step on the emergency brakes when the driver spotted a Toyota Hilux coming from the opposite direction on the same lane.
The Hilux driver was trying to overtake a small container while on a double-line stretch, the video also showed a long train of cars following behind the container.
Though the Hilux driver attempted to apologise and excused his behaviour by claiming the container truck driver did not give him way, the driver of the camera car was incensed with rage as he had children in the back seat.
In case you’ve forgotten what the double-line means, it means that cars are not allowed to overtake on that stretch of road. There is a reason for the double-line on the roads, usually, it is because the particular stretch is too dangerous to overtake.
Following the viral video, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has also launched an investigation on the matter. PDRM is currently tracing the driver of the Hilux for further investigations under Rule 12(3)(A) of the Traffic Law 167/59.
Also, the driver of the camera car was heard complaining that his child in the back seat fell off and hit the cabin floor, hinting that his child was not wearing a seat belt nor was the child sitting in a child-seat. We don't need to explain further why seatbelts and child seats are necessary.
There isnât a time in memory that doesnât involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenâs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
