It’s official, the Perodua Myvi has joined the ranks of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and will start duty as a patrol car. To celebrate the occasion, Perodua held a special handover ceremony.

At the ceremony, five pre-facelift Perodua Myvi AVs were officially handed over to the police.

According to Selangor Police Chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamad, three units will be stationed at the Serendah, Hulu Selangor, and Rasa police stations, while the remaining two will be utilised by the Hulu Selangor and Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD).

The Myvis will be used exclusively for crime prevention and patrol tasks in specific areas. So, you won’t be seeing these PDRM-liveried Myvis locked in a high-speed car chase anytime. 

As for maintenance, the upkeep of all five cars will still be taken care of by Perodua for the next two years for free.

In total, the entire project cost Perodua RM 400,000, including the cost of maintenance.

As you can see, the Myvis used by PDRM are the pre-facelift model, so these Myvis are the models with the 4-speed gearbox. The 1.5-litre Dual-VVTi engines produce 103 PS and 137 Nm. 

PDRM hopes the Myvi police cars would pull them closer to the community as the Myvi is a well-loved model by Malaysians.
