As we have reported before, the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) has selected the Honda Civic 1.8 as its choice of patrol car, replacing the aging Proton Wira and Waja units.

The last time we reported, the PDRM has ordered 425 units of the Honda Civic and already received 30 units. This time, the Perak police have received 44 brand-new Civics, ready for their um…civic duty.

According to Perak police chief Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain, the new cars are to improve the police force’s performance to provide better service to the public.

With the addition of the 44 Civic patrol cars, the state police department has 288 patrol vehicles. Comm Razarudin adds that the additional cars “give the police confidence and increase the element of fear on criminals”.

Some of the district police contingents that will receive the new cars include Ipoh, Hilir Perak, Taiping, Manjung, Batu Gajah, Kuala Kangsar, Muallim, Tapah, Kampar, Perak Tengah, Sungai Siput, and Kerian.

Comm Razarudin also adds that there are plans in place to replace the Proton Inspira with the Proton X70 in some districts including Gerik, Pengkalan Hulu, and Selama in the future.
