Perodua Axia went against traffic on Federal Highway motorcycle lane

A motorcyclist narrowly escaped with his life when he came across a Perodua Axia driving against traffic on the motorcycle lane along Federal Highway.

Traffic Investigation and Enforcement department Kuala Lumpur chief, ACP Zulkefly Yahya, told Harian Metro that they believe the Perodua Axia driver, a 21-year-old woman (curiously some reports says the driver is a man), was heading towards Petaling Jaya from the city centre when the accident occurred near the Kota Darul Ehsan gates.

After entering the motorcycle lane, the Axia driver proceeded to drive against traffic, ultimately ramming into the motorcyclist who was heading in the right direction from KL to PJ.

In the incident that happened around 8 pm yesterday, the 42-year-old motorcyclist sustained injuries to his right leg.

The driver, however, did not sustain any injuries during the accident although the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) believes that she was drunk at the time. PDRM has sent the driver to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for blood and urine tests for further investigation.

The case is now investigated under Section 79(2) and Section 45A of the Road Transport Act 1987.
