Bookings for the D74A 2023 Perodua Axia are now opened, with prices of the new A-segment hatchback estimated to be between RM 38,600 to RM 49,500.

During a media conference with Perodua earlier today, a question was raised regarding the D74A Perodua Axia, asking if the Perodua X Concept previews the next-gen Axia.

Perodua’s President and CEO Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad didn’t confirm the X Concept as the next-gen Axia, but he did mention that dimensions of the model will be much bigger than the current car.

Despite being a bigger car than before, the next-gen Axia will still be smaller than the Perodua Myvi, as Perodua does not want to cannibalize sales of its B-segment hatchback.

Earlier, we reported that the Perodua X Concept could preview the next-gen Axia, owing to the similarities in dimensions.

According to Perodua, the X Concept is 3,750 mm long, 1,665 mm wide, with a 2,460 mm long wheelbase, while Pandulaju mentioned that it could be 3,760 mm long and 1,655 mm wide. Wheelbase was not mentioned by Pandulaju, though we reckon it could be close to the X Concept’s 2,460 mm wheelbase.

In addition to that, with SUVs being the current craze, Perodua’s Chief Designer Muhamad Zamuren bin Musa, he mentioned to Paultan.org that the X Concept is a regular small hatchback with a hint of SUV in its design

Sounds familiar? That’s because Perodua already tried that formula with the Axia Style and it proved to be a very popular variant in the Axia line-up.

As a brief recap, the D74A 2023 Perodua Axia will be between 11 to 13 percent pricier than the current model, but that’s primarily due to the model’s larger size and additional features.
