Perodua’s generosity has crossed over into Sri Lanka as the carmaker extended aid to the staff of its distributor, Unimo Enterprises Limited, in the wake of an ongoing financial crisis there.
The crisis has seen a freeze on imports since 2020 in the island nation but Perodua haven’t forgotten about their partners. This ban has effectively halted the sale of Perodua vehicles in Sri Lanka, which was previously the carmaker’s largest CBU export market. Prior to the financial crisis, the Perodua Bezza 1.0L was their best-selling model there for 2019.

“The financial crisis in Sri Lanka has also led to livelihood difficulties and we are thankful that we are now able to extend a helping hand to our partners there,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

Perodua gifted vouchers to 171 Unimo employees as a gesture of assistance during this difficult period and hopes that it will help with their daily needs.
“We choose shopping vouchers as this is the most effective way to assist Unimo staff to get daily essentials and hope that the situation there improves,” added Zainal.
Unimo Enterprises Limited is Perodua’s distributor in Sri Lanka since the year 1995.

“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
