Perodua's got a strong start to the year as January 2023 sales up by 23 % Y-o-Y 01

Perodua announced their 2023 target of selling 314,000 units, accounting for close to half of the country’s total industry volume (TIV) for the year. Disbelief aside, the carmaker is off to a solid start with January 2023 sales climbing 23 per cent over the same month in 2022.

That’s 21,449 units sold against 17,444 units in January 2022. Production wise, Perodua rolled out 24,590 units in January 2023, up by 40.2 per cent over the 17,538 units produced in January 2022.

“It’s also important to note that for January last year, there was a flood, a severe shortage of semiconductor chips supply, manpower issues and other parts shortages, which hindered production and sales,” said Dato Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Perodua President and CEO.

“That being said, the improvements in volume for both production and sales indicate that the ecosystem is moving as planned,” he added.

“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
