There’s a new B-segment SUV contender in Vietnam in the form of the second-generation Peugeot 2008. The new SUV will be available in 2 variants – Active and GT Line – and will be locally assembled by Vietnamese contract manufacturer Thaco. 

The 2008 will arrive in Vietnam with full LED headlights to complement the SUV’s massive new grille and LED tail lights encased in a smoked panel that spans the entire rear end of the car. The SUV rides on 17-inch double-spoke rims.

On the inside, the 2008 features Peugeot’s latest i-Cockpit 3D interior design language. Taking centre stage is the 7-inch touchscreen display that will play host to Apple CarPlay. The driver will also derive information from a new digital instrument cluster.

Power comes from a 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed conventional automatic transmission that produces 135 PS and 230 Nm.

Safety-wise, the 2008 gets the basic safety equipment like Brake Assist and VSC along with more advanced systems like Blind-Spot Monitor (BSM), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Driver Focus warning.

The second-generation Peugeot 2008 will be coming to Malaysia soon as the first model launched by Peugeot’s new distributor Berjaya Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB). But before it arrives, the company is working on improving the brand's aftersales service.
