Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM), which Groupe PSA acquired a majority stake in 2018 began exporting left-hand drive versions of the Peugeot 3008 SUV in July 2019. It was only a matter of time before Malaysians get the made in Malaysia French SUV.
Prices of the locally assembled 3008 SUV have gone up across the board but so are the equipment levels. Both variants are powered by the same 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder THP petrol engine that makes 167 PS and 240 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. Century sprint takes 8.9 seconds while top speed is registered at 205 km/h.

Styling-wise, the two variants are pretty much identical with the only difference being the halogen projector units on the Active while the Allure gets full LED forward illumination complete with sequential turn signals. Inside, the 3008 CKD is furnished with Premium Black Claudio leather upholstery, powered front seats, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, upgraded 8.0-inch “i-Cockpit Amplified” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play, reverse camera, paddle shifters and electronic parking brake. The range-topping Allure gets additional built-in navigation and a panoramic sunroof.
