It is mostly identical to the fully imported (CBU) model and from the outside, it is virtually impossible to tell them apart. Like the CBU unit, it is propelled by the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain and finished in R-Design trim.
Speaking of power, the T8 powertrain makes a combined output of 407 PS/640 Nm. Being a T8 also means it is all-wheel drive, with the combustion engine powering the front wheels while an electric motor handles the rear. 0-100 km/h is dusted is a blazingly quick 4.4 seconds.
The R-Design package features more aggressive bumper and grille design, with most of the trim pieces like the window surrounds finished in gloss black. Wheels are 19-inch items wrapped with Continental Premium Contact 6 tyres measuring 235/40.
The interior is also largely similar to the CBU model. No Bowers & Wilkins sound system here unfortunately, but there's still a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Quality feels pretty much identical to the CBU unit.
All the touch points are covered with leather, including the top part of the dashboard, centre console, middle section of the door panel and steering wheel.
Over to the boot, the split folding seats have been omitted so you can’t fit longer items in the CKD Volvo S60. Also gone are the 12V socket and the utility net.
The Volvo S60 T8 R-Design CKD is priced at RM 295,888, which is the same as the CBU model even though it is rolling out from the Shah Alam plant.
