Police are investigating Perodua Alza owner in viral video for abuse and neglect of children

The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) has launched an investigation on the Perodua Alza that was seen in a viral video speeding on a highway with three children perched on the window sill.
In a statement posted on JSPT’s official Facebook page, the department highlighted that it is an offence for carrying passengers in a dangerous manner.
JSPT has already traced the owner of the Perodua Alza and they are now conducting further investigation. The parents of the three children will be investigated under two offences and can be charged for:
Section 336 of the Penal Code (Act 574) – for endangering the lives of others
Section 31(1) of the Children’s Act 2001 – for abuse and neglect of children
Other than that, they also reminded the public to always ensure the safety of the children under their care. Legal action can be taken against the driver, parent or guardian if they are deemed to have violated safety rules while carrying the child.
