As you know, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has clarified that wearing a mask in private vehicles is not compulsory. Following that, the police will be cancelling summonses issued to those who were found not wearing face masks in private vehicles.

The senior minister also said that those who had already paid their fines to the Ministry of Health (MOH) for the said offence may claim back their payments.

In his statement regarding the situation, Ismail Sabri acknowledged the misunderstanding between the police and the MOH. He has also taken note of the complaints on social media from those who were wrongly penalised for not wearing a mask in their own cars.

Back in July 23, Ismail Sabri announced the usage of face masks in crowded areas and on public transportation will be mandatory starting from August 1, 2020.

He reiterated that the law encompasses only public vehicles while private vehicles do not fall under the public transport category.

“Private vehicles are not public transport. If we are bringing our family in our cars, there is no need then to wear face masks inside the car, because that is a private vehicle.”

The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenโ€™s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
