Porsche Malaysia has upgraded its high-performance charging facility to offer speeds of up to 350 kW and installed a solar panel carport at Porsche Centre Penang.

Represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance, Porsche Malaysia has invested in the enhancements to emphasise its environmental commitment and work towards a 30% reduction in emissions by 2030.

The twin-175 kW direct current (DC) chargers allow two Taycans to charge simultaneously and allow a 5-80% State of Charge (SoC) replenishment to take less than 23 minutes. The 350-kW charging facilities are now available at Porsche Centre Ara Damansara and Porsche Centre with plans to introduce the fast chargers at Porsche Centre Sungai Besi and Porsche Centre Johor Bahru in June 2023.

Additionally, Porsche and Shell Recharge have joined forces to create a 180 kW high-performance charging network across Malaysia, making long-distance EV journeys possible across the North-South Expressway (NSE) corridors.

The Malaysian network will link to both Singapore and Thailand, creating the longest EV-ready highway route in the Southeast Asian region.

Porsche Taycan owners at Sime Darby Auto Performance can enjoy Platinum subscriptions, exclusive charging rates, and charging lot reservation benefits, all of which aim to make journeys more convenient and reduce charging downtime.

Finally, the newly installed solar panel carport at Porsche Centre Penang has 151 panels generating up to 81.51 kWp and could lead to an average reduction in electricity consumption of 30%, helping the company reduce its carbon footprint.

The carport's installation supports Porsche Malaysia's strategy of finding innovative and forward-looking initiatives to source renewable energy and prepare its business for the increased energy demands it will face in the years to come.
