Volvo Car Malaysia has just announced that it will be introducing the newly improved Recharge plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain in their Recharge T8 models soon along with some price adjustments which will be announced on 1-May 2022.

In Malaysia, the Recharge T8 PHEV models include the 60 Series (Volvo S60, Volvo V60, Volvo XC60) and the 90 Series (Volvo S90, Volvo XC90).

Some highlights of the new Recharge PHEV powertrain include:

• A new long-range battery of 18.8 kWh from 11.6 kWh
• A new rear electric motor of 145 PS compared to the previous 88 PS
• An increased EV range of up to 90 km from the previous 40-49 km
• Improved CO2 performance
• Increased total power of 462 PS compared to the previous 407 PS

“Our new line of PHEVs will transform the way our customers experience electric driving,” said Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia. “The improved powertrain lets our customers drive sustainably at a longer distance, at the same time providing them with range confidence that fits the needs of their everyday lives.”

One Pedal Drive, which is a feature on Volvo’s pure electric models will be offered on the updated XC60 and S90 PHEV models which promises a seamless and intuitive drive during stop-and-go traffic. It also offers a more effective battery regeneration and higher regenerative power that improves fuel efficiency.

Besides the new and improved features for the 90 and 60 series, Volvo Car Malaysia will be making a new price announcement on 1-May 2022. The price adjustment will start with the current XC40, XC40 Recharge T5, XC60 B5, and XC90.

The rest of the updated Recharge T8 models will be sold at the new price upon rollout. Meanwhile, the prices for the current outgoing Recharge T8 models remain the same and will be sold while stocks last.
