Price increase by 0.7%, or RM 1,000 across all variants
Ignite Edition is the new flagship variant
Platinum Quartz is now available on the Mazda 3
Bermaz Motor, the official distributor of Mazda models in Malaysia, has just introduced the updated 2022 Mazda 3. As before, the C-segment sedan and hatchback are imported (CBU) from Japan.
As speculated back in February, prices of the updated 2022 Mazda 3 have crept up a bit, due to our weakening Ringgit. Compared to before, prices have gone up by 0.7 percent, or RM 1,000 across the board.
The 2022 Mazda 3 is slightly more expensive than before
The starting price of the 2022 Mazda 3 is now RM 138,660 for the 1.5-litre sedan and hatchback variants. If you want the peppier 2.0-litre engine, price of the Sedan 2.0 High is RM 146,119. Sitting above that is the 2.0-litre High Plus, priced at RM 155,679.
But that’s not all – Bermaz Motor has also introduced a new Ignite Edition of the Mazda 3 Hatchback. This range-topper is priced at RM 164,679.
With this new 2022 update, Mazda has removed the Sonic Silver option, replacing it with Platinum Quartz.
Other changes include Deep Crystal Blue is now limited to the hatchback variant, and Polymetal Grey can now be had on the sedan. In the past, Polymetal Grey was limited to the hatchback only.
Apart from the aforementioned colours, the updated 2022 Mazda 3 can also be had in Soul Red Crystal, Machine Grey, Jet Black, or Snowflake White Pearl.
Compared to regular variants, the Ignite Edition adds gloss black side mirrors and 18-inch black metallic alloy wheels. Inside, the Ignite Edition offers Burgundy-coloured leather seats.
Being the flagship variant, the Ignite Edition gets all the bells and whistles, including the full Mazda i-Activsense ADAS suite, with features like Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Drive Attention Alert (DAA) with Driver Monitoring and Cruise Control & Traffic Support (CTS). The latter has been updated to function at highways speeds, up from the previous model’s 55 km/h limit.
How many engines are offered?
The powertrain line-up remains unchanged from before. The entry-level Mazda 3 gets a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine that serves 120 PS at 6,000 rpm and 153 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
Stepping up is the naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre petrol engine with 162 PS at 6,000 rpm and 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
Both engines are mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
What else do I need to know?
As before, the new 2022 Mazda 3 is backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty and 5 years of free maintenance, inclusive of parts, labour, and lubricants. Both the manufacturer warranty and free maintenance packages have a coverage period of 5 years and a mileage limit of 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
