Making its Malaysian debut, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) officially launched the 2023 Hyundai Creta. Fully imported (CBU) from Indonesia, the Creta is Hyundai’s second B-segment SUV offered in Malaysia after the Hyundai Kona.

The Creta is only available in the country with one single variant, the Creta Plus which is priced from RM 149,888. Even though both the Creta and Kona are from the same segment, the Creta is larger than the Kona for the most part.

The Creta’s price is also within the price of the Hyundai Kona which starts from RM 124,188 for the base 2.0-litre variant while the Kona 1.6 Turbo starts from RM 150,888. Bear in mind, the Malaysian-spec Kona is still the previous generation, not the all-new model that was introduced to the world in December 2022.

Hyundai’s latest B-segment SUV in Malaysia is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder Smartstream G1.5 unit (115 PS/144 Nm) and is paired with a CVT-type automatic which Hyundai calls Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

Power is sent to the front wheels and there are 4 selectable drive modes offered in the Creta – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Smart.

The Hyundai Creta offers a bold look with its Parametric Jewel face that features LED DRLs concealed within the grille. Combined with the bumper-mounted LED projector headlamps, the Creta gives a striking presence at night.

Inside, the Creta comes with a 10.25-inch TFT LCD cluster, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto air-con with rear air-con vents, keyless entry and start, as well as an electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold.

The Creta comes standard with 6 airbags and a comprehensive Hyundai SmartSense suite of active safety features including:

Available in 5 colours (Dragon Red Pearl, Galaxy Blue Pearl, Titan Grey Metallic, Midnight Black Pearl or Creamy White Pearl), the first 150 buyers of the Hyundai Creta will receive a free extended warranty for 5 years/300,000 km as well as free service for 3 years/50,000 km.
