The Honda CR-V is the most popular non-national SUV in Malaysia, with good reasons too. So let’s dive into the build quality and features through the WapCar Ratings system.

Like the Nissan X-Trail, the Honda CR-V’s build quality is acceptable. Although our test unit showed high paint thickness going up to 260 μm at the bonnet and down to around 160 μm towards to the rear. It should be mentioned that the test unit is several years old.

The largest deviation at 1.5 mm between the gaps on the rear tailgate, while the rest were within expectations. The Nissan X-Trail faired similarly.

Interior build quality is what you’d expect from a RM 170,000 car. Panel gaps are fairly even and cabin materials are pretty alright. There’s soft leather on the dashboard and door panels. But the Mazda CX-5 still feels more premium on the inside.

Features in the 2019 Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V comes with everything you’d expect from a modern-day SUV; 6 airbags, stability and traction control, full suite of Honda Sensing ADAS and the Honda LaneWatch Camera.

It should be noted that the integration with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay is also one of the best we’ve experienced. Turn by turn instructions along with distance are displayed on the digital instrument panel.

There are 4 USB inputs in total, a HDMI port and a 12-volt socket. 8-way power adjustable driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and multi-angle rear view camera are standard across the range.

The Honda CR-V 1.5 TC-P does offer all the features you need from an SUV. It’s an all-rounder that combines space, practicality, and features in one convincing package.

Its build quality is acceptable for its segment but once you factor in the selling price of RM 175,900, it can be better. Especially when you consider the more powerful and premium feeling Mazda CX-5 Turbo priced at RM 181,660.
