PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia (MBDI), the distributors of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the country has revealed that the Mercedes-Benz EQS will be introduced there in 2022, as reported by our sister site Autofun.co.id.
Choi Duk Jun, the Chief Executive Officer of MBDI confirmed the matter in a press conference last week. However, he stopped short of mentioning whether or not the model will be locally assembled (CKD) or fully imported (CBU).
In the ASEAN region, Thailand will be launching the model by the end of this year, and they're likely to be the first country outside of Germany to assemble the EQS.
Mercedes-Benz AG has invested more than 100 million Euros (about RM 495 million) into its Thailand battery plant, one of Daimler’s seven worldwide. The Bangkok battery plant is a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG with Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant (TAAP) and Thonburi Energy Storage Systems (TESM).

Malaysians will have to wait an indefinite period, as there's still no mention of the model's arrival to Malaysia. In the meantime, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's (MBM) latest launches are the locally-assembled (CKD Pekan, Pahang) A-Class Sedan and GLA.
