Samsung pledges to switch company fleet to green vehicles by 2030

Samsung Electronics has announced its plan to switch its entire fleet of cars to environmentally friendly vehicles by 2030. The plan was made in accordance with South Korea’s efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases to battle global warming.

As part of the pledge, the tech giant signed a green mobility agreement with the South Korean Ministry of Environment.

Currently, Samsung’s fleet consists of 800 corporate cars, including logistics vehicles. 

Other than that, Samsung’s partner companies and suppliers will also join in with its green car initiative. This means that about 2,000 vehicles will be switched to eco-friendly vehicles by 2030 as well.

To aid Samsung’s vision of an eco-friendly fleet, the Ministry of Environment will be providing the tech giant with subsidies to replace the company-owned cars with electric vehicles (EV) or hydrogen-powered cars.

The ministry will also support the installation of charging stations at the company’s facilities.

Samsung’s move to switch its complete fleet of cars to green vehicles will help the country reduce an annual 6,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions as well as other air pollutants.
