Looks like we could be getting the updated 2021 Proton Iriz and the Iriz Active a lot sooner according to a recent scoop. Production of the revamped B-segment hatchback has already commenced according to info shared by The Ajerul.

Apart from that, there are also rumours that the updated Iriz will gain 2 new colours, Passion Red and Citric Orange. These colours are currently offered on the Proton X50.

Hang on, the Iriz already comes in red, right? Well, the red colour offered in the outgoing Iriz is called Ruby Red and it’s in a darker shade than the Passion Red as seen in Proton’s hyped-up crossover.

Besides, the shade of Citrus Orange as seen in the image provided by The Ajerul looks right at home on the Iriz. The bright paint job sure reminds some of the Perodua Axia Style.

Speaking of the Axia Style, the 2021 Iriz will have an additional faux-crossover variant, likely called the Iriz Active. It will be fitted with a roof rail and some cladding on the fenders and wheel arches.

We have covered a few spy shots of the chunky Iriz. It could potentially be a best-seller for the Iriz seeing how many units of Axia Style we see today on the road.

The updated Iriz is also expected to get a new transmission, a 4-speed automatic likely shared with the Proton Saga. It’s time we say good riddance to the atrocious Punch CVT gearbox anyway.
