When Honda Indonesia unveiled the Honda N7X Concept in May, everyone pondered one thing: It’s the next-gen Honda BR-V, right? Since then, Honda has neither confirm nor deny the concept previewed is the long overdue replacement to the 7-seater.
However, specs of what might be the next-gen BR-V were spotted on Indonesia’s Samsat website by Indonesian automotive sleuth, Indra Fathan.
Samsat is the Indonesian equivalent of our own Road Transport Department, JPJ. Much like how we get to know what powered the Indo-spec City Hatchback, the site also revealed some specs on the next-gen BR-V.
First, there is a new code for the next-gen Honda 7-seater crossover – DG3. The outgoing BR-V is codenamed DG1 and has been on sale since 2016. Even with a facelift that was launched in Malaysia in 2020, the BR-V is definitely in need on an overhaul.
Based on the Samsat site, it appears that the next-gen BR-V will be available with five variants in Indonesia. The first four, namely 1.5 S MT, 1.5 E MT, 1.5 E CVT, and 1.5 Prestige CVT are carried over from the outgoing BR-V but the fifth variant is where things get interesting.
It is listed as 1.5 Prestige HS CVT. The HS could stand for Honda Sensing and if this is true, the next-gen BR-V will be getting more than just an image makeover. Granted, the Honda Sensing features would probably be similar to what’s on the City RS which includes FCW, LDW, and ACC among others.
Other variants might miss out on the ADAS suite but some of the higher trims could get Honda LaneWatch as evidenced by the bulge on the passenger side mirror.
Naturally, the addition of the ADAS suite not only adds on the BR-V's safety points but also a bump in price. However, prices for the supposed top-of-the-line variant of the next-gen BR-V are shown to be less than the highest trim of the outgoing BR-V.
It is worth noting that prices listed on the Samsat website are not final. So, expect the prices to be more than the IDR 217 million (~ RM 62,000) listed.
The next-gen BR-V is expected to be launched in the archipelago in August, so we’ll see whether Honda’s 7-seater will be getting those safety enhancements and proving us wrong.
