Not available in showrooms, and definitely not on the roads, yet, the ongoing WapCar Auto Show 2022 is the only place you can currently see, touch and feel the stellar new Kia EV6.
Imported from Korea (CBU), the Kia EV6 is offered in a sole long-range GT Line AWD, priced at RM 300,688 inclusive SST.
The EV6's design was a collaborative effort across three Kia's Namyang (Korea), Frankfurt (Germany), and Irvine (California) design studios, led by lead designer Karim Habib.
The EV6 features dual LED projector headlamps with DRLs and High Beam Assist (HBA).
At the back, the EV6 features LED combination taillamps. Note the charge port that resides just inside of the taillamps.
The EV6 measures 4,695 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,550 mm tall. That’s bigger than a Honda CR-V! Its 2,900 mm wheelbase is longer than an Accord!
The EV6 features massive 20-inch wheels, wrapped in 255/45 R20 tyres.
Well, that's not quite the engine, but the EV6 powertrain sees two electric motors, one on each axle delivering a total of 325 PS (239 kW) and 605 Nm to all four wheels.
The EV6 draws power, from a water-cooled 77.4 kWh high voltage battery, which is 4.8 kWh larger than the unit supplied in its close-sibling, the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
On the inside, the EV6 features a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (wired). Another 12.3-inch screen features for the main instrument cluster.
Your favourite tunes are played through 14-speaker Meridian surround sound system.
The seats are finished in suede with leatherette accents.
The centre console supports wireless smartphone charging.
Despite its low slung roofline, the EV6 features decent headroom and legroom at the rear.
The boot features a powered tailgate with 520-litre volume, more than enough space for a family of five. The rear seats also fold 60:40, for transporting long items.
There's even a front trunk - or frunk - with 20-litres of space. Oddly, Kia says this is ideal for storing footwear.
Besides its high-tech powertrain, the EV6 is chock-full of active and passive safety features. Seven airbags, hill-start assist, with the full suite of advance driving aids (ADAS) which include Adaptive Cruise Control, a 360-degree parking camera, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with Collision Avoidance.
The Kia EV6 will take centre stage at the ongoing WapCar Auto Show 2022, happening at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, from today to Sunday, 10 AM to 10 PM.
Apart from Kia, other exhibitors include Mazda, Peugeot, Honda, Toyota, and Mercedes-Benz. Good deals on auto accessories including DDPai dashcams, Trapo car hygiene products, IGL Coatings paint protection, Karcher car wash products, custom-made DK Schweizer leather upholstery, and Harman’s Infinity audio systems, will also be available.
The event will take place at the piazza area of Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Visitors are encouraged to register online here to redeem a free door gift. The nearest covered parking to the exhibition area is Car Park Entrance C, just before the slip road to exit the main road into Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
