As Malaysia waits, Singaporeans can already pootle around in the all-new 2021 Honda HR-V, thanks to a couple of brand-new examples brought in by parallel importers Vincar.

They're offering two variants, one being the regular, petrol-powered 1.5G while the other is the hybrid 1.5X e:HEV.

In Japan - where these cars are imported from - the 1.5G is the base variant, while the 1.5X e:HEV is the entry hybrid variant.

Still, it does get some nice features, thanks to full-LED head- and taillights, as well as dual-tone 16-inch wheels.

Their all-black interiors are way more sedate than available bright-coloured options, but at least both variants get an electric parking brake (EPB), digital air-conditioning controls and Honda's trick air curtain system.

Spicing up the cabin are LED room lights, and of course the requisite Ultra Seats.

The hybrid differs slightly though - it gets a deceleration selector pedal and a semi-digital instrument cluster, much like the one found in our Honda City RS.

Speaking of City RS, the 1.5X runs on the same type of powertrain anyway, the dual-motor i-MMD setup:

To cap it off, both variants get the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, which bundles:

• Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
• Adaptive Cruise Control with edestrian detection, Low-Speed Follow (ACC w/ LSF)
• Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
• Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)
• Auto High-Beam (AHB)

The HR-V has been a jackpot for Honda, gaining over 32,000 bookings in just one month since its introduction.

Closer to home, the HR-V in Malaysia could be replaced by the next-gen Honda WR-V instead, since all the extra kit will almost certainly result in the HR-V having a significantly higher price.
