When mega entrepreneur Tony Fernandes showed off his new Tesla Model Y on his official Instagram account on National Day, social media is not pleased at all. Instead of applauding him for going green, netizens took the opportunity to troll his recent purchase.
Based on his Instagram caption, the AirAsia founder uploaded his new purchase to let his followers know that he is officially going green and saying goodbye to combustion engine cars. After the post blew up, the entrepreneur later clarified that the car was on lease.
Unfortunately, social media sees it as a display of his fortune during these trying times as many needed the help of food banks while businesses continue to suffer. Check out some of the comments below.
The Tesla Model Y is the more understated SUV from Tesla. While the Model X is all show and βdancingβ gullwing doors, the Model Y is a standard 4-door affair.
The standard Model Y seats 5 but it comes with an option to include a third row of seats to make it a 7-seater. Teslas in Malaysia are usually parallel imported from Hong Kong as the Hong Kong showroom is the closest official Tesla seller to Malaysia.
Based on the official website, the Model Y costs HK$ 329,800 (RM 178,550). This price does not include SST, duty, and sales commission. When everything is included, the price of the Model Y should cost around RM 406,000.
Tesla offers the Model Y in two variants, the Long Range variant that has a distance range of 524 km and does the century sprint in 4.8 seconds. The Performance variant, meanwhile, sprints to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds but has a shorter distance range of 487 km.
There isnβt a time in memory that doesnβt involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenβs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
