Here we have the Toyota RAV4 caught testing in Thailand under a heavy disguise. So heavy in fact that it had us second guessing if it was the mysterious Toyota Corolla Cross. But the mirrors, rear wiper and bumper point to the Toyota RAV4.
This would suggest that a Thailand debut is imminent and we are hoping that Malaysia comes next. Whether it will be in 2020 or 2021 is anyone’s guess at the moment.
In Japan, the RAV4 is offered with 2 engine options – a 2.0-litre ‘Dynamic Force’ engine mated to the Direct Shift CVT making 171 PS/203 Nm, and a 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain that makes 222 PS and 279 Nm of torque.
If it arrives with the former option, it will be the first Toyota in Malaysia to feature the Dynamic Force engine. And if UMW Toyota Motor nails the pricing and equipment, things would be looking up for them.
