Here we have the 2021 (W213) Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift spotted on a trailer in Malaysia, about nine months since its global debut.

Two units were spotted on the trailer, both painted in black with their emblems covered and appear to be fitted with different trim lines.

The one on the rear is an AMG Line model, seen from the more aggressive front and rear bumper design as well as the larger wheels. The unit towards the front wears a smaller set of wheels and has a different chrome trim pattern on the rear bumper, which is likely to be the Avantgarde model.

Engine choices are not confirmed, but we’re expecting the new M254 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, replacing the previous M264 engine.

The new engine uses a 48V mild hybrid system with a integrated starter-motor generator (ISG). The engine alone makes 272 PS, with the ISG adding another 20 PS of boost.

The engine is paired to a new 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission, now updated to integrate better with the ISG, with reduced size and weight.

The 2021 (W213) Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift is expected to be launched early next year. Meanwhile, the G30 BMW 5 Series is due for a facelift soon as well.
