After making its debut in Thailand and Singapore, it appears that Malaysia could be next to debut the stylish-looking Peugeot 408.
This spyshot of the Peugeot 408 was taken by our friends over at RWD Industries, which possibly hints at the model being locally-assembled (CKD) at the Stellantis plant in Guurn, Kedah, seeing that it wears a trade plate that begins with a K.

The new-generation Peugeot 408 follows the foot steps of several other manufacturers, reviving a well-known sedan / coupe into an SUV (think Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross). Unlike other marques, however, the new-generation Peugeot 408 is a visual stunner.
While the Peugeot 408 sedan was a handsome-looking model for its time, it was largely a forgettable, as most buyers went for other C-segment sedans like the Toyota Corolla Altis, Mazda 3, or Honda Civic.

With this new-generation Peugeot 408, Peugeot designers went to town with the design, giving the model a fastback crossover design, sprinkled with typical French flair.
The end result is perhaps one of the most stylish modern-day French cars today.
What remains to be seen is the powertrain options for the Malaysian market. Over in Thailand, the Peugeot 408 will get a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system that features a turbocharged 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor that does a combined system output of 225 PS and 360 Nm.
Could the same powertrain find its way to the CKD Peugeot 408?
