Spied: All-new 2020 Nissan Almera seen, year-end launch possible? 01

The all-new 2020 Nissan Almera has been sighted on Malaysian soil, hinting that Nissan’s latest B-segment sedan could be introduced here sooner than expected.

Despite the front-end being covered in copious amount of camouflage, it’s not difficult to identify the model as the side profile and wheels are unmistakably from the all-new Almera.

Thai-spec cars get 15-inch wheels as standard

Judging from its two-tone wheels, it appears that this particular car could be the range-topping variant. The tiny bump on the side mirror points to a 360-degree view monitor – another top spec model feature. The same two-tone wheels are optional items on the Thailand model.

Powertrain - Don't expect the turbo

The 1.0-litre turbo may not be offered here

Powertrain-wise, the naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine from the current model is expected to be carried over; no turbocharged engine for us, unfortunately.

The biggest reason why the Thai-market turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine may not be offered here is due to cost and lack of incentives.

What about prices?

Spied: All-new 2020 Nissan Almera seen, year-end launch possible? 02

In Thailand, the 2020 Nissan Almera is priced between THB 499,000 Baht (around RM 67k) to THB 639,000 (around RM 85k).

Keep in mind that these prices are inclusive of tax incentives provided by Thailand’s Board of Investment (BoI), making it tough to compare against its predecessor model. Furthermore, tax structure differences between countries mean that the prices you see here cannot be compared directly.

That being said, when the all-new Almera is introduced in Malaysia, it could be priced in the same price bracket as its rivals – between RM 70k to RM 90k.
