All-new 2022 Lexus NX has been spotted in Malaysia
As before, it will be CBU from Japan
Powertrain option remains to be seen
Ahead of its official launch in Malaysia, a photo of the all-new 2022 Lexus NX has been circulating on social media groups. As before, the model arrives here in imported (CBU) form, from Japan.
The second-generation model now rides on the TNGA-K platform, similar to the Toyota Harrier and RAV4.
Despite being an all-new model, it is instantly recognizable as an NX, thanks to its familiar front fascia and side profile. Like recent Lexus models, it gets a full-length LED tail light at the rear, with the model inscription located on the bottom right of the tailgate.
At the moment, the outgoing Lexus NX is priced between RM 306,117 to RM 339,018. With the newer and bigger capacity 2.4- and 2.5-litre engines, prices for the all-new 2022 Lexus NX in Malaysia will certainly shoot up, as our import and excise tax structure is based on engine capacity.
The naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre could be seen as a downgrade from the current turbocharged model, while the 2.4-litre turbo will be priced even further out of the competition.
As for the hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, our taxes would inflate the already-higher prices of the hybrid models far too much.
