Fans of French cars might want to check this out, as the all-new 2022 Peugeot 308 has been spotted right here in Malaysia.
Codenamed P5, the all-new 2022 Peugeot 308 made its global debut back in March 2021. It also debuted the latest Peugeot logo and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants.
This red example, courtesy of The Ajerul, wears the “K650A” trade plate, one that we’ve seen on a Peugeot 2008 back in early 2021. There’s also a left-hand drive sticker on the right side of the tailgate.
Recall that Peugeot’s parent organization, Stellantis, has taken over Naza’s plant in Gurun, Kedah. That explains why this particular Peugeot 308 wears a Kedah trade plate, just like in earlier Peugeot spyshots.
At the moment, the Gurun plant assembles the Peugeot 2008, Peugeot 3008, and Peugeot 5008, for both domestic and export sales.
When will it launch in Malaysia?
While the Peugeot 308 has been spotted here, don’t hold your breath for a local launch any time soon. Peugeot has a regional training centre in Petaling Jaya, so this particular 308 could be a training unit for their own staff.
It is also possible that this Peugeot 308 is here in Malaysia for durability testing purposes.
