The 2023 Honda HR-V's electric cousin, the Honda e:NS1, has been spotted charging up in Thailand. Though it may just be there for initial tests, there are signs that point for this EV SUV to be launched in the ASEAN region in the near future.
News outlets report that Honda Thailand is planning to take their electrifiction plans in the country to the next level in 2023, and part of that is purportedly the expansion of the company's Prachinburi plant to begin manufacturing EVs.
Naturally new models will also be part of the game. For that, it's said that the e:NS1 will lead the pack with an introduction into their market this year; following an initial preview of the e:SUV Prototype there in December 2022's Thailand International Motor Expo.
As for the e:NS1, you won't be wrong to think of it as an all-electric HR-V. The general look is similar ā LED headlights, tail lights, and silhoutte are the same ā but with its own 'futurism' twists on the inside and outside.
The cabin sees a more holistic change. There's a fully-digital instrument cluster now, ambient lighting, and a massive 15.1-inch portrait infotainment screen in the middle.
Currently only sold in China, the e:NS1 is available in two powertrain configurations. One is juiced by a 53.6 kWh lithium-ion battery and an 182 PS/310 Nm electric motor, while the other has a 68.8 kWh battery, and a 204 PS/310 Nm electric motor.
Range ā local CLTC figures only, for now ā are 420 km and 510 km respectively. Pricing for the e:NS1 is at the CNY 175,000 (RM 115,660) to CNY 218,000 (RM 143,080) range.
