At first glance, we almost mistook this camouflaged car as the all-new fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson. But the car you see in the photos is the upcoming Hyundai Creta, spotted just days ahead of its official unveiling at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2021 (GIIAS).

The front end might bear massive resemblance with the Hyundai Tucson, but a look at the car from the side and you’ll see that the SUV in the pictures rolls on much smaller wheels than the larger C-segment SUV.

Thanks to sketches that PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) uploaded earlier this month, we can confirm that the camouflage car is the Creta.

The Creta is set to be the first model to be assembled in Hyundai Motor Group’s new Cikarang plant. Once local assembly is rolling smoothly, cars assembled in the plant will also be exported overseas.

Based on the images, we can also see the outline of a camera sensor. This could mean that the Creta in Indonesia will come with Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite.

It seems Hyundai is taking a leaf out of Honda’s book, as the camouflage isn’t just any plain old print but the shape of the archipelago’s land. What a way to hype up a soon-to-launch model!

Deliveries of the locally-assembled (CKD) Creta is expected to start in 2022. Stay tuned for coverage of the 2021 GIIAS.
