This photo of a mysterious compact SUV testing on our roads came to our attention yesterday, turns out, it’s a Citroen C3 (codenamed CC21).
There’s no way to confirm that this is a C3, let alone from Citroen. But based on all the clues, here’s why we’re pretty sure it is the French compact SUV.
First off, the trade plate is from Kedah. This eliminates manufacturers with plants in other states like Volkswagen (Pekan) and Honda (Melaka).
Another major clue is the fact that the same exact camo and similar old school steel wheels were spotted testing in India. When you place both pictures side by side, you will see that the body design and motives are the same as the car spied in India.
And yes, that car in India has been confirmed to be the Citroen C3.
But what is the C3 doing in Malaysia? This isn’t the first time a Citroen was spotted in Malaysia. Previously we reported that the DS3 and DS9 were both spied testing in our country.
As Citroen’s presence here is still undecided since Berjaya Auto Alliance (BAASB) only took over the aftersales management of the brand, the C3 might just be another training unit since Groupe PSA does have a regional training centre in Malaysia.
If the Citroen C3 does make its debut in Malaysia, the SUV will go up against rivals like the Honda HR-V and the Proton X50 even though the C3 measures smaller and will probably be priced higher.
There isn’t a time in memory that doesn’t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
