The cute Porsche-like EV, the Ora Good Cat has been spotted once again in Malaysia, together with the Ora R1.
While we have managed to get some pictures ourselves, we'd have to thank Mr. Zuhril from MyEVOC (Malaysian EV Owners Club) for sharing pictures of these EVs with us.
They are the same EVs that have been seen on a trailer previously and also in Elmina some time ago.
Both the Ora Good Cat and Ora R1 are merely test units with left hand drive configurations.
Powering the Good Cat is a permanent magnet electric motor located on the front axle that produces 145 PS and 210 Nm.
Depending on the battery size, the retro-styled EV can either offer a range of up to 400 km or 500 km. In China, the Ora Good Cat is priced in the range of 103,000 RMB to 143,900 RMB (RM 65,200 - RM 91,187)
The Ora Good Cat has made an appearance at the 2021 Bangkok Motor Show, albeit being a left-hand-drive version with a China-specific charging socket (GB/T).
The Ora R1, also known as the Ora Black Cat, is less powerful with only a 49 PS/125 Nm electric motor powering the front wheels.
Dubbed the cheapest EV by GWM, prices of the Ora R1 ranges from 59,800 RMB to 77,800 RMB (RM 37,894 – RM 49,300) after incentives from the Chinese government.
As exciting as it is to see all these “affordable” EVs in Malaysia, we are still waiting for EVs that are truly accessible to the masses.
