It seems that Malaysians will soon welcome a special edition Proton X70, if this photo taken at Tanjung Malim is any indication.
Shared by Careta, note how these X70 differs from the standard range offered today. For one, all five units are draped in what looks to be Ocean Blue, a colour picked from the Proton X50. According to Funtasticko, it is one of two colours that will be offered on the purported X70 Special Edition, the other being Passion Red.
Other than that, the wheels are different too. Keen eyes will notice that it's the same design that's on the Geely Boyue Pro.
Beyond these, the X70 still looks pretty much the same, so this is not the facelifted model. The facelifted X70 is said to come in August, fitted with the same 1.5-litre, turbocharged three-cylinder mill that's shared with the X50. Sources report that this model is due to begin tests next month.
If that is true, then Tanjung Malim has a very busy second-half of 2021: beyond the updated X70, there's also the facelifted Proton Persona and Iriz to look forward to. Those, and of course news on the curious Geely Haoyue (Proton X90?) spotted in KL recently.
