Malaysians are bound to welcome a slew of new pick-up trucks this year, and one of them is the 2021 Nissan Navara NP300 (D23) facelift that was spotted recently.
The photo - shared to us by a WapCar.my reader - gives us a closer look at the updated pick-up truck. Looking at the chrome grille garnish and dual-tone wheels, this appears to be the VL 4WD variant.
Another clue to that is the '4WD' decal on the rear quarter panel - a trait we noticed on the last spyshot.
These point out that this is not the Pro-4X 4WD variant that is currently available in Thailand, which comes with black-and-red details as well as a 'Pro-4X' inscription on the rear quarter panel.
What can we expect of the upcoming Navara facelift?
According to Nissan Thailand's website, the Navara VL 4WD shares a powertrain with the range-topping Pro-4X variant - an updated 2.3-litre, twin-turbo diesel engine (YS23DDTT) capable of making 190 PS and 450 Nm paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
However, it's still unclear whether this engine will be replacing the currently-employed 2.5-litre (190 PS/450 Nm) engine in upper variants the Malaysian-spec Navara.
Feature-wise, the Thai-spec VL 4WD comes with features such as:
Bringing it up to par with the Toyota Hilux (on paper at least), the Thai-spec Navara VL 4WD also comes with the Nissan Intelligent Mobility ADAS suite which includes:
Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM) with Off-Road Monitor
Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW)
Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB)
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Intelligent Lane Intervention (ILI)
Blind Spot Warning (BSW)
Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (IBSI)
High Beam Assist (HBA)
It still remains to be seen whether the Malaysian-spec Navara facelift will benefit from all these features.
When is it coming to Malaysia?
We still have the pre-facelift version on sale, with prices starting from RM 98,888 for the entry SE variant and all the way to RM 134,888 for the range-topping VL Plus Black Series.
But this might not be for long. As previously reported, stock is running out quick, and we can expect the facelifted model to be launched here soon.
Whatever the case, the Malaysian pick-up truck market is bound to be a very hotly-contested arena in 2021. Besides the updated Navara, recall that the all-new 2021 Isuzu D-Max is also expected to launch here in the first half of this year.
