China’s best-selling electric vehicle (EV), the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, has already made its way to Thailand but it seems they’re now looking to enter the Philippines market as well.
Photos of the tiny EV sans number plate cruising around the Philippines have caught the media’s attention. Autoindustriya believes that these are driven by private individuals for testing.

If the Mini EV does make it to the Philippines, the website is certain it would be from unofficial channels.
Nevertheless, they welcome the arrival of the Mini EV to their shores. They hope that with the affordable price and the convenient size, the EV would help encourage a higher EV adoption rate in the country.

In case you don’t know, the Hongguang Mini EV became a hit the moment it went on sale in China. Not only is the EV nicely sized for individuals in China, but it is also affordably priced.
To add to being the cheapest EV in China, the Mini EV is also suitably cute. Wuling even capitalise on the cuteness and introduced a special Macaron Edition which features a series of colours you usually get on the dessert.

What makes the EV so affordable is the use of a small 13.82 kWh battery to power only one electric motor. The EV has a claimed range of 170 km and produces only 17 PS. Still, the EV is capable of a top speed of 105 km/h.
But don’t be fooled by how simple the EV looks, it does come with a few basic safety systems like ABS with EBD and reverse sensors.

At this rate, we really think Wuling should just hire official representatives and sell the Hongguang Mini EV officially in international markets.
For reference, we added a size charge of the Hongguang Mini EV next to the Perodua Axia.
