We’re getting ever closer to the launch of the all-new Toyota Veloz, as the Perodua Alza's sister model was spotted uncovered on a transporter in Malaysia. In case you missed it, the Veloz will replace the Toyota Avanza.
From the photos uploaded by Facebook user Khairul Asraf, the units on the trailer sport a dual-tone finish. Malaysia might be the first market to debut the dual-tone finish for the Veloz.
Based on the DNGA platform, the Toyota Veloz was launched as the sportier and more expensive sibling of the Toyota Avanza. The 7-seater MPV made its official debut in November 2021 in Jakarta and quickly retook the crown as Indonesia’s best-selling car of the year.
Just like the Perodua Aruz/ Toyota Rush duo, the Veloz will also be assembled by Perodua at the company’s Rawang plant.
Power will come from a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 106 PS and 137 Nm. The engine will be mated to a Dual-mode CVT (D-CVT).
Unlike the previous generation Avanza, the Veloz will be front-wheel-drive rather than rear-wheel-drive. The change is due to the new DNGA-B platform that the Veloz is built on.
Other than that, the Veloz will also come with modern features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) as part of the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) ADAS suite.
Currently, order books for the Veloz are already open. We estimate the MPV to be priced around RM 95,000.
