The third-gen 2022 Toyota Avanza is due to make its international debut in the coming weeks. Though we have published photos of what the all-new Avanza will look like, here’s one coincidentally next to its predecessor courtesy of Indonesian automotive sleuth, Indra Fathan.
Well, it’s an early pre-facelift model of the outgoing generation but you can see how much more grown-up and premium the all-new Avanza looks like. The Avanza on the trailer also appears to be the more upmarket Veloz variant.
In another set of photos obtained by AutonetMagz, we see a closer look at the rear of the Avanza Veloz. It sports a rear taillight design that resembles the Toyota Raize.
Further details on the undisguised Veloz shows that it is a Q variant which could make this one of the top variants in the Avanza range. Based on what we had previously reported, the next-gen Avanza Veloz could be powered by the same 1.5-litre 2NR-VE (104 PS) from the outgoing Avanza but is paired to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.
Power is sent to the front wheels, a first for the Avanza as previous generations are rear-wheel driven. Aside from the CVT gearbox and a new drivetrain layout, the Avanza will also be equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite which might be available on the Avanza G and Avanza Veloz Q variants in Indonesia.
The previous set of leaked photos showed an Avanza Veloz with TSS, spot the camera unit at the top of the windscreen
However, it is uncertain whether this particular Q trim is equipped with TSS or not. So far, we are only shown the rear of the next-gen Avanza in this latest set of spyshots.
The all-new Avanza will make its debut at a live stream on 10-November 2021. The 7-seater MPV will also see its underpinnings shared with the next-gen Perodua Alza. The Avanza is one of Indonesia’s best-selling cars and with a more modern design, its popularity will surely continue.
