Go anywhere, get everywhere. Ford isnât shying away with the new Rangerâs capabilities, on and off the beaten path. After all, nobody drops a tagline along those lines without being absolutely certain about not dropping the ball when the going gets tough.
Nonetheless, Ford also firmly believes that regardless of where you take its new Ranger, youâll need to stay connected. In this day and age, connectivity is as essential as capability, even in a pick-up truck and fortunately, the Ranger does both without breaking a sweat.
Elevating the connected experience has always been one of the Rangerâs unique aspects and this new iteration, the bar gets raised again. Itâs packed with smart functionality that can be accessed and controlled with your voice, smartphone or the class-leading infotainment touchscreen.
Speaking of infotainment, the vertical touchscreen is home to the updated Ford SYNC 4A system. Apart from wireless support for Android Auto⢠and Apple CarPlayâ˘, SYNC 4A carries a number of built-in apps. It even features enhanced conversational voice recognition, cloud-based connectivity for over-the-air updates and customisable touchscreen options. Lest we forget, it houses the 360-degree view camera for easier manoeuvring in tight spots.
Furthermore, youâll never have to fret about your smartphoneâs battery going flat as well while on the go. Just drop it on the wireless charging pad and carry on with your journey. Of course, the wireless Android Auto⢠and Apple CarPlay⢠will continue to keep you company even while your smartphone is being charged.
Now while the Ranger is fully capable of taking on even the harshest of terrains on the outside, itâs still very much going to keep you cosy and comfortable on the inside. It all falls onto the smart climate control system that keeps the cabin snug. Updates to the system mean that the temperature is adjusted faster and more efficiently with new zone sensors for improved temperature accuracy. Even if youâre seated in the back, rear air-conditioning vents will have you cossetted in comfort for the journey.
While behind the wheel of the Ranger, the driver gets to monitor all the Rangerâs vitals via the digital instrument cluster. The 8.0-inch screen serves as the nerve centre by projecting the right vehicle data when you need it. Drivers can toggle the between various displays and modes with the realistic body-style avatars representing an accurate depiction of the off-road driving modes in real-time.
Ford was understandably keen to let everyone know the amount of thought that went into the ergonomics of the cabin and overall design. Part of that includes some extremely convenient features such as the high-mounted USB outlet right above the rear-view mirror that makes it perfect for dashcams. This very convenient feature carries into the bed of the truck as well with 400W and 12V sockets for powering your camping setup out in the wild or power tools at the worksite.
In the name of convenience as well as safety, the Ranger WildTrak also features a first-in-class electric parking brake. Not only does it clear up valuable real estate in the centre console area but it also works together with the advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).
The system is designed to illuminate the vehicle at night for various reasons such as casting some extra light around to set up a tent or pack up after a day out picnicking in the forest.
Thatâs not the extent of its intelligent lighting though. The Ranger has a segment-first Matrix LED headlights on the WildTrak. Some of its tricks includes auto dynamic levelling and speed dependent lighting that can adjust the intensity of the beam in front of the vehicle while its dynamic capabilities mean illuminating around bends before turning in.
All in, the new Ranger brings connectivity as well as capability to the table, regardless of where said table may be. To learn more about the Ford Ranger and exploring the latest models, visit Sarasotaford.com.
