Fans of the Fast franchise (yes, they exist) were devastated when Han; played by Sung Kang, purportedly died in the fiery wreck of his Veilside-kitted Mazda RX-7 in Tokyo Drift. Those frowns turned upside down when he returned from the dead in Fast 9 but seeing that his favourite car is a Toyota Sienna, some might be wishing he stayed dead.

Although his character made a return in Fast 9 behind the wheel of a Toyota Supra that paid homage to his RX-7, in real life the man behind Han proudly declared that favourite car of all time is a Toyota as well… but not quite in the mould of the Supra.

Sung Kang is in love with the 2022 Toyota Sienna LE; something he wasn’t embarrassed to share on The InEVitable podcast hosted on the Motor Trend channel that he was a guest on recently. You can catch the part around the 49-minute mark below.

“18 cupholders and 36 miles per gallon (15.3km/litre),” was his justification. As family man, it’s difficult to argue with the affable Sung Kang.

“The best car ever made for mankind,” he added. Take that statement with the same amount of salt you would for any of the exaggerated action scenes in the Fast movies.

Jokes aside, he made some solid arguments about the Sienna. The US isn’t short on options when it comes to MPVs and the Sienna starts above the average for the segment.

Therefore, he argues that nobody needs a Sienna but they want one because it just works and it’s a Toyota. You can sort of apply the same logic to seeing someone in a Lexus LS. They could’ve easily gotten a much more recognisable BMW 7 Series or a Mercedes-Benz S-Class for that money but you know a man with a Lexus understands luxury and isn’t there to show off.

On a much lesser scale, that’s Sung Kang’s argument for the Sienna.

Ultimately though, being a part of one of the largest movie franchises always comes with a sacrifice in anonymity and the Sienna allows Sung Kang to remain under the radar when he's out and about. Who's going to look at the driver of a MPV?

Of course, a little battle of the MPVs erupted with the host mentioning how a previous guest favoured the Kia Carnival. Sung Kang wasnt buying it though as he thought the Kia was sugarcoated with a lot of bells and whistles but lacked the meat and potatoes of a proper family-hauler like the Sienna.

If he ever does find the pace lacking, maybe he can give Bisi Ezerioha of Bisimoto a call. The tuning legend whipped up a 1,000hp Honda Odyssey and shouldn’t have any trouble turning the Sienna into a Supra slayer. Check out the what's probably the fastest MPV in the world below.
