BMW’s design studio has been hard at work attempting to replicate Peppa Pig’s nose on the front façade of all its latest cars but perhaps after the BMW XM, they might call it a day. Nonetheless, we’ve got a set of photos of the divisive ///M model for you to take a whiff of.
The most powerful road-legal production car in BMW’s history is on display at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2023 and it goes without saying that those signature kidney grilles better resemble black holes into the dimension of questionable design language.

Having already been launched in Thailand at THB 14,899,000 (~ RM 1.95m), the XM is as powerful as it is ugly. It brings a combined power output of 635 PS and 800 Nm of torque courtesy of a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that’s supplemented by a 197 PS/280 Nm electric motor. Performance numbers are 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and to a top speed of 270 km/h.
All that might is sent to all four wheels via the M xDrive AWD system with an 8-speed automatic before. With all that torque, the M Sport differential has its work cut out in distributing driving power between the rear wheels, while the Adaptive M Suspension Professional does its best to keep an impressive balance between sporty handling and comfort.

There’s a M Hybrid button on the centre console that allows the driver to scroll between one of three operating modes. A 29.5 kWh high-voltage battery mounted in the car’s underbody allows a fully electric mode among the 3 that drives up to 140 km/h and over a maximum distance of 98 km. It’ll take 4 hours and 15 minutes to charge that battery via a 7.4 kW AC outlet, making it a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
Once you get over the grilles that are also illuminated on the edges, the rest of the front comprises split headlights with Adaptive LED headlights and high beam assistant that automatically switches to regular beams when there’s oncoming traffic or a vehicle in front. Completing the exterior are 23-inch M light-alloy wheels.
