Testing: Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L, a comfortable SUV

Wilson · Aug 2, 2019 05:20 PM

Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a 2.4L engine codenamed 4J12 that matches the CVT gearbox. Maximum horsepower 165 hp at 6,000 rpm, maximum torque 220 Nm at 4,200 rpm. This data can only be considered as the middle level in the main competing products.

Testing: Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L, a comfortable SUV 01

0-100km/h Accelerated test: 10.8s

First of all, let's first look at the accelerated performance of Outlander. Because the Outlander uses a CVT transmission, the system protects it and the maximum speed at the start is controlled at around 2400 rpm. The output after the power combination is very gentle, so there is no excessively aggressive performance and the overall comfort is excellent.

window.googletag = window.googletag || {cmd: []}; googletag.cmd = googletag.cmd || []; googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.defineSlot('/22557728108/my_article_fourthp_under_pc', [ 728, 90 ], 'div-gpt-ad-1685525140735-0').addService(googletag.pubads()); googletag.pubads().enableSingleRequest(); googletag.pubads().collapseEmptyDivs(); googletag.enableServices(); });
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1685525140735-0'); });

From the acceleration G value map, the power immediately appeared to have a maximum G value of 0.45g immediately after the combination, but soon fell to about 0.25g, mainly because of the need to protect the transmission. The subsequent acceleration curve is very linear, and the G value is also steadily declining, with a very sharp comfort orientation. Finally, it broke 100km/h at 10.8s.

100-0km/h Brake test: 40.79m

In the brake test, Outlander's score was 40.79m. Because of the long suspension of the SUV, the compression of the front suspension was obvious. The initial brake G value is not large, so you don't feel the head is very sensitive, even if you feel it is soft. However, the performance in the middle and the back is still very balanced, there is no obvious fluctuation, and it is maintained at around 0.95g. Although the results are average, it is easy to drive.

Fuel consumption test: 9.87L/100km

After 104.8 kilometers of roads, Outlander consumed a total of 10.35 liters of fuel, and its fuel consumption was 9.87L/100km. Considering the 2.4-liter engine, we think this is a good result. If you don't use CVT transmission, I believe its fuel consumption will be higher.

Noise test: good performance at low and medium speeds

In the noise test, Outlander also handed in a good answer. Especially in daily driving, Outlander's performance at speeds below 80km/h is commendable. The car is very quiet, and there is no obvious feeling of wind noise and engine noise. After a speed of more than 100km/h, engine noise begins to increase and wind noise is also increasing, but even so, Outlander is still relatively quiet.
