The Toyota Corolla Cross is proving to be a success in Thailand. Actually, scratch that, it has dominated sales in Thailand in 2020 despite only being introduced in July.
Ever since it was launched, the Corolla Cross managed to hold its number one position in the compact crossover segment in the final six months of the year according to Headlight Magazine. 12,945 units of the Corolla Cross were sold in total which translates to a 28.3% market share.
Meanwhile in second place is the MG ZS. The Anglo-Sino SUV snatched the top position from the Honda HR-V from March until June. However, according to the data provided by the Thai media, once Toyota launched the Corolla Cross the MG’s reign was immediately over.
MG managed to move 11,780 units of the ZS in Thailand in 2020. A pretty close number to the Corolla Cross’ total.
The Honda HR-V rounded off the top 3 of Thailand’s best-selling compact crossovers with 7,884 units sold in 2020. As the Honda HR-V is one of the most popular crossovers in Malaysia, can the Corolla Cross repeat its Thai success here?
After all, it is definitely one of the most important models for UMW Toyota Motor and a model Malaysians will be looking forward to in 2021.
